      Air Passenger Rights & Compensation

When traveling with Egyptair, you are protected by air passenger rights regulations, especially for flights departing from European Union (EU) airports. Under EU Regulation 261/2004 (EU 261/EC 261), passengers are entitled to compensation in the event of flight delays, cancellations, or denied boarding. These rights apply if your flight originated within the EU, regardless of the airline, or if your flight to the EU was operated by an EU-based carrier. For Egyptair flights, EU 261 compensation applies if your journey starts from an EU country, such as a flight from Paris to Cairo. However, if your flight departs from outside the EU to the EU with Egyptair, EU 261 does not apply, as Egyptair is not an EU-based airline.

If your Egyptair flight is delayed by more than three hours upon arrival or cancelled without sufficient notice (less than 14 days), you may be eligible for monetary compensation. The compensation amounts are determined by the flight distance:

      • For flights up to 1,500 km: €250 per passenger
      • For flights between 1,500 km and 3,500 km: €400 per passenger
      • For flights over 3,500 km: €600 per passenger

Compensation is not automatically provided and may be subject to certain exceptions, such as extraordinary circumstances (e.g., severe weather, security risks). Passengers must file a claim to receive compensation for delayed or cancelled Egyptair flights under EU 261 regulations.
