Air Passenger Rights: Delays, Cancellations, and Compensation

As a passenger flying with Scoot (TZ), you are entitled to certain air passenger rights, especially when your flight is delayed or cancelled. If your journey originates from an EU airport, or if you are flying to the EU with a European carrier, you are protected under EU Regulation 261/2004 (EC 261). This regulation ensures compensation and assistance in case of long delays, cancellations, or denied boarding. For Scoot flights departing from the EU, these rights apply regardless of your final destination.

Under EC 261, if your Scoot flight is delayed for more than 3 hours upon arrival, or if it is cancelled less than 14 days before departure, you may be eligible for compensation. The compensation amount depends on the flight distance:

      • Up to 1,500 km: €250 per passenger
      • 1,500 km to 3,500 km: €400 per passenger
      • Over 3,500 km: €600 per passenger
The regulation applies if the disruption was not caused by extraordinary circumstances, such as severe weather or air traffic control strikes. If your Scoot flight originated outside the EU and arrived in the EU, EC 261 applies only if the airline is EU-based; since Scoot is not an EU carrier, these rights apply primarily to flights departing from the EU.

In case of delays, you may also be entitled to meals, refreshments, and hotel accommodation depending on the duration of the delay and the distance of your flight. Always retain your boarding pass and any documentation related to your trip to support your compensation claim.
