If your SpiceJet flight is delayed or cancelled, you may be entitled to compensation under European regulations, specifically EU 261/2004 (also known as EC 261). This regulation applies if your flight departed from an EU country, or if you were flying into the EU on a European airline. For SpiceJet flights, EU 261 only applies if your flight departs from an EU airport, as SpiceJet is a non-EU carrier. If your flight originated outside the EU and was operated by SpiceJet, EU 261 does not cover your journey.
According to EU 261, if your flight is delayed by more than three hours upon arrival, cancelled without adequate notice, or you are denied boarding due to overbooking, you could be eligible for financial compensation. The amount of compensation depends on the distance of your flight:
Compensation is not due if the disruption was caused by extraordinary circumstances, such as severe weather or air traffic control strikes. However, airlines must still provide care (meals, refreshments, accommodation) during long delays.
If your SpiceJet flight was delayed or cancelled, Voos can review your compensation claim. We handle all communication with the airline and only charge a fee if your claim is successful. Depending on your flight distance and circumstances, you may be eligible for compensation of up to €600 per person under EU 261.
